Amateur Radio Communications (ARC) Team

If you are interested in Radio Communications, Technical Equipment, or are already a Ham Radio Operator, the Sheriff's Amateur Radio Communications (ARC) Team is the place for you.  The Sheriff's ARC Team coordinates and provides communications support for many of the special events and incidents that the Sheriff's Office is involved in.  The members of the ARC Team participate in almost all of the Sheriff's activities as every event requires communications support of some type.

Mission

The Sheriff's ARC Team has as its mission, to provide communications and technical support to the Sheriff's Office.  The ARC Team, all of whom are currently Ham Operators, meet at least once per month at the Office of Emergency Services (OES).  The ARC Team manages the radio, video and electronic equipment of the Volunteer Services Section and operates the Sheriff's Mobile Command Post.  By providing these services, the ARC Team supports the activities of both full-time and volunteer Sheriff's Office employees.  In times of emergency, the ARC Team also staffs the communication systems within the Office of Emergency Services. 

Qualifications

To apply for membership with the Sheriff's ARC Team, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Hold a current California Driver's License.
  • Be able to pass a background investigation.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States or a permanent resident alien.
  • Possess a Technician Class amateur radio license.
